Urkgh & Sombrero
We can sew any part of the yurt you need; the lining, canvas, pyjama (outside cover), and urkgh (crown cover).
The urkgh can be made from a transparent material, a bit shaped like the crown is, to stop water coming in near the crown. It is a square or triangle with 8 or 6 strong loops to attach ropes. The ropes are connected to the three bands that go around the outside cover of the yurt and just above the ground the ropes carry smooth stones to keep the whole structure down to earth.
Another urkgh is made from one or more layers of fabric, to keep the hot sunlight out of the yurt.
For yurtas artasanales I make “sombrero” and “pyjamas”. The sombrero keeps the hot sun out. On request, it can be made of upcycled off-white material. It may have some little irregularities in the textile.
